Video rough cut learner response
comments and feedback:
- Currently it’s a long way under the 3-minute time specified in the brief – around 1.30. There are some good shots in the places – the golden hour lighting in the opening shots is beautiful and the graveyard shot is effective.
- Almost everything else I’m not fully understanding – is there a narrative here? I’m not sure what story you are trying to tell. Currently no performance element which may be something you wish to consider for the final cut. With regards to the narrative, think about how you can develop character or make the storyline clear. Can you use effects or post-production to help with this or do you need to re-shoot?
- Text on screen / artist name at 1.27 is good – I like the freeze frame although you may want to look at developing the brand identity of the artist slightly more. Is the Ugg close up a reference to footwear sponsorship? It’s great to cover that part of the brief but you may want to consider how you can expand that further.
- Overall, this is more like an extended preliminary exercise in its current form. You do have some good shots in there you may want to use in the final cut but I think you need to plan and film a lot more if you want enough material for a strong three-minute final cut.
- This is why rough cuts are so important – you’ve got your editing skills back up and running but now need to think about what you can add to turn this into a completed music video.
Learner response: As your learner response, pick out the three improvements/changes you need to make to your video production for your final edit.
- I need to also include a performance, I will have my artist in certain setting singing the lyrics.
- I need to do more edits on the flash back making the audience understand its and emotional flash back.
- adding in more location and different angle shots.
