Preliminary exercise feedback and LR

1) Type up your teacher's feedback in full plus a summary of the comments you received from other students in the class.

  • Some really nice moments in this – I like the jump cuts at the start to introduce the relationship. I wonder if the cuts need to be slightly faster? But the effect really works.
  • The way the song comes in is great but then I’m not sure what is happening with the visuals – it just seems like there’s nothing on screen? One to think about.
  • In general, you need a much wider variety of shots – particularly close-ups. Could you have filmed more through the front windows to create that visual variety? You could also have used the rear view mirror for creative shots etc.
  • Obviously need to fix formatting / export issue but I’m sure that can be done. It’s clearly filmed in landscape and just exported in portrait.
  • Need brand identity of your artist in there alongside footwear element.

2) Using a combination of your own reflection on the preliminary exercise and the feedback you were given, write three WWW bullet points and three EBI bullet points for your work.

WWW:
  • the jump shots gave a nostalgic cute feeling to suggest to the audience it was a sweet part of his life.
  • The song fits the vibe and quick shots to prove the time passes.
  • POV of the guys reaction and transition of the phone to the camera.
EBI:
  • I need to fix the formatting
  • some clips were too slow
  • have an actual argument instead of saying random words.
3) How effectively did you complete the objective you laid out in your mini preliminary exercise statement of intent?

It met the time needed but it was a bit too long as some clips had to be cut and overall the narrative was clear.

4) What have you learned from the preliminary exercise that will help you in the actual coursework project?

  • I would use a tripod so my shits are more clear and
  • I will write down what must be filmed before so I don't miss out on clips.
  • I would leave more time to edit and give the actors a script.

5) Now you have completed the preliminary exercise, will you change anything about your actual coursework video plan? This could include your concept, cast/actors or technical elements such as mise-en-scene, camerawork or editing.

  • yes I want to change the actors and cast.
  • the narrative will be based on a friend relationship instead and more about bereavement of her dead friend.
  • clothes will be the friends wearing similar clothes to show they are close.
